It’s been a while, and so on. I’m still theoretically in on strike mode. But fuck it, since everybody seems to be modelling their own unique personality, I might well come back from the yet undead to serve some chops and offer verbal dandruff.
Rrrright on. There’s a new David Banner track and I can’t wait for the full length.
Somebody has been recommending me those Tiliqua reissues to me. I paid almost no attention. Turns out I totally lost ability, after nearly completing infamous NWW LIST, to get interested in the crazy archives. Well almost. This one is a real gem, and it’s clear even after very careless checkout.
Or, to quote the incomparable source:
‘
One of Japan’s rarest erotic artifacts in stunning condition – best copy that will ever cross your path. Unbelievable, here you have the HOLY GRAIL of Japanese Iroke gems, copies just never turn up – until now. Rare does not even come remotely close to describe the scarcity of this disc, the most depraved erotic and sexiest disc ever to have been put down on wax. In 1971, the same year as her big screen debut, Ike recorded the album Kôkotsu no Sekai for Teichiku Records. In spite of her tender years (having just turned 17), she single-handedly transformed the album’s conventional track list of covers and kayôkyoku melodies into an unprecedented maelstrom of eroticism and sexual depravity. Ike’s vocals breathe with an astonishing naturalness, dripping honeyed and golden-tongued into the ears with angelic ease. Her erotic presence flutters across a multitude of erogenous non-verbal modes - moaning and uttered shrieks of ecstatic pleasure, sibilating suffocated whispers of excitement, and grunting and growling like a bitch in heat. When Ike does sing, it is in a subdued, husky voice about sex, submissive love and seduction. Although all the songs are cover versions, Ike confines herself to whispering but a small part of the original lyrics, spending the remainder on guttural erotic incantations backed by the desolate sound of a cheesy organ and a muffled yet ecstatic mellifluous vocal sound that is reminiscent of the 13th Floor Elevators’ Tommy Hall breathing down a jug. The entire recording is suffused with a unique atmosphere, a ripe and heady Japanese eroticism now sadly overwhelmed by the intrusive and infelicitous import of cheap Westernized thrills and assorted uneuphonious cultural junk. Nevertheless, Kôkotsu no Sekai launched Ike as the nightingale of the “pink new wave”.
If we were doubted that the previous was Japanese psych porn ,this is 100% psychedelic porn music, yet very beautiful!’

Yeah. Mr.MarTelo is the UK guy who done that lovely remake of Luniz that Sinden played in one of his previous shows. In fact, he wrote me a whole aeons ago and I stupidly promised to feature it soon, knowing not that sometimes it’s better to keep one’s mouth shut instead of talking nonsense. But but but here it is, and y’all are really encouraged to check out his ‘Do You Have Your 3D Glasses’ mix (here) that I think he did with Kesh. It has some truly great stuff floating around and a really puzzling programming indeed: opens with timeless Chaka Khan, Rod Lee, Buraka Som Sistema, even fucking Stone Roses. All done seamlessly, so take off your stupid stunna whatever to this guy.
track listing as follows:

In fact, MarTelo was kind enough to give us miserables couple of his unmixed productions. I’m honoured to present two of those:
Been that, done here. And reading too much shit in the newspapers can make you seriously go crazy. Instead, you’d do much better listening to head-cracking and 5th eye-opening fiftysomething minutes of DJ Nappy’s brand new thugstep mix. Crunky as hell, and contains some of the cutting edge dubstep tuneage (think Benga, Skream, Vex’d, Emalkay and the like) as well. Contrary to what some hard-headed anally retentive people tell, this might be one of tomorrow’s directions for the whole thing. And it’s done today.

Get.
Also, on some kind of a self-imposed strike, stupid as it sounds. Meanwhile, check those by German photographer Volker Steger. (via Boing Boing)
Aight then. I cannot wake up today for some reason and it’s 8:19 PM.
Moxie Musik the label has a batch of their new and archived radio shows for people to peruse, with the latest one featuring one of last year’s better breakdown producers Claude VonStroke. Super skilled and versatile DJ Flack does it in the 15th (awready!) part of Weareie’s - and surely enough, other artists’ - Bloggariddims series. Knowing Flack’s flair for the absurd, no wonder it’s called ‘Beyond The Valley Of The Smurfs’. Most diverse pickings here, ranging from Daddy Yankee to DJ Class to //surprise surprise// vintage Minutemen. Get this while the shit is hot. Good and funnily annotated tracklist somewhere inside.

UK’s dubstep whiz Skream played a live set on LDN’s true-to-da-core Rinse FM on February 07. Here it is, not exactly what I’d call a satisfactory bitate but still totally listenable. And recommended.

I wasn’t aware of Flying White Dots, and how good he is, until yesterday. (World Famous Audio Hacker was the source of this bit of intelligence). It’s mashups but done in some kind of ultraslick way that made mah jaw drop. Also, his choice of entry material is pretty unorthodox - lots of 60s-70s stuff like Beets, Stones and magnificent ‘Hush’ by Deep Purple. In man’s own words:
Flying White Dots is a producer/remixer/laptop DJ called Bryan who lives in Brighton, England. October 2006 saw the release of web-only psychedelic mashup album “Staring At The Sky”, available for free on the downloads page. New ep “At War With The Misfits” due February 2007.
PLEASE get familiar with this guy as he grossly makes competition redundant. This (nu) and that too.

Surprisingly enough, two acts that namedrop the undead in their very names.
Zombie Disco Squad is also connected with Gutter Broadcast blog and they have a mix out that’s practically all current freshness (like Radioclit’s Bonde Do Role remix, Crookers or Felix Cartal) with the exclusion of perennial favs as Gucci Crew’s ‘Sally’ or DJ Funk. Here’s their hi-class ‘Low Kisses’ mix. (via Slutty Fringe)

DraculaZombieUSA (The West Coast Solution) sits strongly in the refix/blend game, and their ‘Nice Fixtures’ mix proves they’re totally worth further scrutiny. Fatman Scoop meets Digitalism, Three Six Mafia get revisited by Soulwax, you get the drift. Stuff kills! (via Gorilla Vs. Bear)

Looks like the place could be blown to pieces. (via Gutter Broadcast) Nice flyer too.
If you find this crazy inexplicable:
what do you think of the crazy Ecuadorian mothers? What exactly is the move here, the purpose of all this mess?
******Muchos gracias, Ilian. Tons of love. Continue to channel me into Latin cultural effluvia, please.
Still chillingly nervous… and Koopa has a new look.
Our Disco peeps have posted turbulent mix by those herky jerky obsessives Simian Mobile Disco, and it’s one of those things that dancing crowds ‘profusely salivate’ after. While big record is still in its TBR phase at Wichita Recordings, they have ‘It’s The Beat’ single out with album and radio edits of the track (it’s doin the rounds awwready) . Surely not the thing to be slept upon, this here comes from their LDN appearance on December 1, 2006.
So, according to their MurderSpace desc, Top Billin sounds like:
J-Dilla, Prince, Sizzla, Three 6 Mafia, Ed Banger, The Federation, Le Tigre, Snoop, Rod Lee, Daniel Wang, Carl Graig, Dj Funk, Rick Ross, Young Jeezy, Collipark, Mulatu Astake, Wiley, Arthur Baker, Jay-Z, DFA, Diplo, Purple Crush, Shawnna, Tittsworth, Justice, TTC, E-40, Level 42, Mstrkrft, Dipset, Spank Rock, Serge Gainsbourg, Bone Crusher, Dmx Crew, Zoot Woman, Jose Gonzales, The Knife, Lady Sovereign, Madlib, Annie, Giorgio Moroder, Millie Jackson, Green Velvet, Solid Groove, T.I., Phoenix, Ghostface, Prefuse73, Jack Mayborn, Ashla Putli, Hot Chip, Ellen Allien & Apparat, The Honey Drippers, Newcleus, David Banner, Dj Shadow, The Rolling Stones, Quantic, Ron Rico, Too Short, Danzig, David Bowie, Clipse, LCD Soundsystem, Biz Markie, Edwin Birdsong, Ciara, Edu K, Seals&Crofts, The Keys, Missy Elliot, Mr Scruff, Talking Heads, Skream, Daft Punk, Lily Allen, 45 King, Glenn Frey, Nirvana, Aretha Franklin, Roni Size, Herve, Quannum, Skeletronics, Ludacris, Cold Crush, Mf Doom, Cameo, Detroit Grand Pubahs, Rene & Angela, Prodigy, Blondie, 2 Live Crew, Roots Manuva, Modeselektor, Domu, Jackson Sisters, Surkin, Lalo Schifrin, RJD2, Toto, Sparks, Neil Young, Switch, Keak Da Sneak, Billy Paul, Dinosaur Jr, Kano, Dwele, Trentemoller, Sinden, Ghislain Poirier, Thomas Brinkmann, DJ Funk, Brennan Green, Maurice Fulton, Lupe Fiasco, Mighty Ryeders, Rick James, bitch!
Sheesh, what a hefty list is too! Now you’d be well advised to check out latest (5th) installment in their mix series. It’s called ‘Rave On Girl‘ but does not necessarily consist of aggro lads strumming their synthi guitars while dreaming to be lil Justins (horrible case of Klaxons doing ‘My Love’ - seriously, guys, even irony is passe). Instead it’s quite fucking ecclectic, with Paul McCartney & Wings, Ludacris and Tittsworth. These guys are pros, and it shows.

Boom! A.V.M.D. is the realest radio show broadcast in Toulouse, southwest of France. Recently the guys started amassing all those hours of awesome tunes on their webpage. Just a brief look on the tracklists is enough to make one convinced it’s the cutting edge of where it’s at all thing French (and otherwise) considered: DatA, Hadouken!, Tekilatex, L’executeur de Hong Kong, Krazy Baldhead, Yuksek and we could go on for couple aeons more. Just get on there, and start listening promptly.
And this too. It’s Mistaker’s mix for ‘Boston’s premiere post-apocalyptic dance battle, Thunderdome 2′. And it’s hell of a good mix too. OK, I must admit to listening very briefly, but when AC/DC segues smoothly into Ciara via blasting Balti-ravish basslines, you cannot go wrong. Tracklist not present - handle this with dignity, kids.
